Job Description
The Insulator Technicianworks in the fabrication of various types of insulating materials from fiberglass, foam glass, mineral fibers, synthetic rubber, and other products commonly used in the trade.
Work involves installing insulation on steam, hot and chill water piping, refrigeration lines, and air conditioning ducts. Work also involves the proper anchoring of insulation with spotwelded pins, tie wires, metal bands, screws, and other fasteners. Assignments are made in the form of written or oral instructions. Work is inspected for satisfactory compliance with instruction, although routine repairs are usually made independently without supervision or review.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES
Assignments are completed in accordance with established policies, procedures, and safety regulations. New installations are completed efficiently and effectively.
Heating and domestic hot water equipment is well maintained and in good operating condition. Unscheduled downtime is minimized.
Heating and domestic hot water problems and power failures are promptly addressed and resolved.
Maintenance records, work orders, and inventory logs are accurate and up-to-date.
Management is appropriately informed of area activities and of any significant problems.
Good communication and coordination exist with area staff and departments.
Considerable knowledge of the standard practices, methods, materials, and tools of the insulating trade.
Considerable knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of the trade.
Ability to work from oral and written instructions, sketches, and diagrams.
Ability to maintain good relationships with personnel of other departments.
Ability to work from ladders and scaffolds.
Skill in the use of standard tools and equipment of the insulating trade.
Assumes responsibility for maintaining related records.
Documents test and inspection dates and results.
Maintains inventory records for welding supplies used and utilized on jobs.
Completes work orders, lists materials issued and used, and documents work repairs.
Assumes responsibility for establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with area staff and with management.
Assists area staff as needed.
Ensures that management is appropriately informed of area activities and of any significant problems.
Assumes responsibility for related duties as required or assigned.
Ensures regulatory requirements and established procedures are met.
Follows safety requirements.
Ensures that work area is clean, secure, and well maintained.
Completes special projects as assigned.
Attends and participates in meetings as required.
REQUIREMENTS:
High school graduate or equivalent.
Graduation from a standard vocational or high school and some experience as a journeyman insulator; or any equivalent combination of training and experience.
One to two years of related experience.

PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES AND REQUIREMENTS OF THIS POSITION

REPETITIVE MOTIONS:Movements frequently and regularly required using the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
AVERAGE VISUAL ABILITIES:Average, ordinary, visual acuity necessary to prepare or inspect documents or products, or operate machinery.
PHYSICAL STRENGTH:Medium work; exerting up to 50 lbs. occasionally, and/or up to 20 lbs. frequently, and/or 10 lbs. constantly.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Worker is subject to varying inside and/or outside temperatures, which may include extreme heat (temperatures above 100 degrees) or extreme cold (temperatures below 32 degrees).
Work is performed both inside and outside. Subject to weather.
Must work under hazardous conditions including high places, chemical exposures, electrical current, moving machinery, exposure to blood, etc.
The worker is subject to fumes, odors, dusts, gases, poor ventilation, etc., which affect the skin or respiratory system.
MENTAL ACTIVITIES AND REQUIREMENTS OF THIS POSITION
REASONING ABILITY:Ability to deal with a variety of variables under only limited standardization. Able to interpret various instructions.
MATHEMATICS ABILITY:Ability to perform basic math skills, use decimals to compute ratios and percents, and to draw and interpret graphs.
LANGUAGE ABILITY:Ability to use a passive vocabulary of 5,000-6,000 words; read at a slow rate; and define unfamiliar words in dictionaries for meaning, spelling, and pronunciation. Ability to write complex sentences, using proper punctuation, and using adjectives and adverbs. Ability to communicate in complex sentences, using normal word order with present and past tenses and good vocabulary.

All employees are provided with short-term disability at no cost. The CBW paid benefit is $200/week and is effective first day of the month following 90 days of employment.

401(k) through Retirement Planners
Employees are eligible for plan participation on the first day of the month following 90 days of employment. The current match is 25% of each dollar contributed by the employee. You become fully vested after 3 years of employment, which begins upon you first contribution to the 401(k) plan.You can change you're withholding amount as needed. CBW reserves the right to change the matching percentage at any time.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
