The Cyber Forensics Specialist is filled by an individual skilled in the area of computer and network analysis. This position supports a United States Government Agency's Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT).

The Forensics Specialist is a member of the CERT Operations Support Team. This position requires competency in computer forensics, electronic discovery, and information security. The primary purpose of this position is to conduct computer forensic investigations, data recovery, and electronic discovery. The candidate will be expected to have a solid foundation of technical experience and expertise, possess strong communication skills, and exceed our clients' expectations. The Forensics Specialist is responsible for:
- Works under the guidance of Supervisor, Information Security
- Extensive experience in a leadership capacity in computing security.
- Demonstrated skill in performing post-incident computer forensics without destruction of critical data.
- Responsible for conducting data forensic investigations for enterprise computer security incidents including but not limited to internal and external intellectual property theft, computer abuse, and attacks/intrusions
- Responsible for the research, process development, evidence collection, thorough investigation, produces accurate results, and reporting of all assigned incidents.
- Ability to follow through on leads until all possible avenues in investigating a case has been exhausted.

- Real-world knowledge of computer forensics with the ability to provide accurate evidence of computer crimes to law-enforcement agencies while using only approved techniques for collecting and preserving evidence.
- Communicate with co-workers and management regarding case development.
- Provide findings reports and recommendations based on investigative findings.
- Prepare reports and documents case details, development and outcome.
- Any other duties as requested by management.

Qualifications
Required Education and Training:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Information Systems.
- Minimum six years of relevant professional experience is considered equivalent to a Bachelor's degree.
- Certification in CEH (Certified Ethical Hacker) is required
- Additonal certifications/ability to obtain within 6 months of hiring for CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional), GCFE (Certified Forensics Examiner), EnCE (EnCase Certified Examiner), and (TCNA) Tenable Certified Nessus Auditor is desired.

Required
Experience:

- In addition to required education or equivalent experience;
- Minimum 6 years IT experience
- Must have three years experience in Computer and Network Forensics.
- The ideal candidate will have knowledge and experience with the following operating systems:
o Windows, Macintosh, Linux or UNIX, and DOS.
o Must have understanding of information systems security; network architecture; general database concepts; document management; hardware and software troubleshooting; electronic mail systems, such as Exchange and GroupWise; Microsoft Office applications; intrusion tools; and computer forensic tools such as EnCase, Access Data, and FTK.
o Experience conducting security assessments, penetration testing, and ethical hacking are desirable.
An active TS/SCI clearance

Preferred
Experience:
- Experience with business process reengineering, capability maturity model, change management, or process improvement.

Qualities/Additional info:

Forensics Specialist should be a proven team player with excellent oral and written communications skills, and a fine attention to detail.

He/she should also be a self-starter, capable of working on projects independently, if required.

Extremely effective oral and written communications skills are a must, in order to present strategy, scripting output and status information to the client in both formal and informal review settings.

Frequent interaction with government client is required.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
