Public Safety Communications Specialist

The Public Safety Communications Specialist is responsible for providing law enforcement communications support for USMS. Duties also include but are not limited to the following:
Analyzes incoming intelligence data from a threat perspective and independently determines who needs to receive the information. Receives fugitive tips from other federal, state, and local agencies along with the general public to then analyze the information and disseminate it to the appropriate USMS District. Provides two-way radio response services for USMS offices in the Washington, DC metro area to include Headquarters, USMS; the Eastern District of Virginia (Alexandria, Virginia); the District of Columbia, the District of Columbia Superior Court, and the District of Maryland. Maintains the security of the USMS classified documents received by the Communications Center. Operates the USMS Mass Notification System to broadcast emergency messages and other important announcements to USMS employees. Assists and directing calls from news media personnel, the public, representatives of national and international organizations, and other agencies regarding critical incidents to the necessary USMS Office or HQ Division. Qualifications:
To be considered minimally qualified for this position, you must demonstrate that you have the required specialized experience and/or education for the respective grade level in which you are applying:
GS-9 Specialized
Experience:
You must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 level in the Federal service that included:
1) analyzing incoming intelligence data from a threat perspective and determining where to route the information; 2) operating two-way radio equipment to provide radio response services to emergency personnel; 3) operating a mass notification system to broadcast important announcements to key personnel; 4) utilizing investigative databases to find information and disseminate information to appropriate staff; and 5) managing stressful two-way communications with law enforcement involving life or death circumstances. Possess a master's or equivalent graduate degree (LL.B or J.D.) or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field of study directly related to the position that provided the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work. Experience:
Possess a combination of graduate level education and specialized experience to qualify me for this position. Only graduate education in excess of one year (i.e., 18 semester hours) may be combined with experience under this standard. (Must submit a copy of your transcripts and be reflected in resume.) The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
